Vision

The goal of YPC is to mobilize youth and to show those 13 to 21 years of age that they are "youth at hope, not at risk."

YPC serves youth 13 to 21 years of age regardless of their education, ethnic background, religion or sexual orientation. YPC is a membership-run, nonprofit organization that offers cultural programs designed for youth of color.

Membership Requirements

Download and print a copy of the YPC Membership Form. Membership is FREE and open to all youth.

Members will:

  • Actively particiate in activities.

  • Conduct themselves in a respectable manner on and off YPC property, especially when representing YPC.

  • Know and live the YPC motto.

  • Attend school (if less than 17 — it's the law) or be employed. If they do neither, they should be in attendance at YPC for more than three days to get assistance with job, school, or GED placement.

YPC and Bayard Rustin Access Center Announce 50 Summer Jobs for LGBT Youth Of Color
 
YPC and BRAC will be assigning 50 LGBT youth of color to work in local businesses for the summer in the loop, west and south sides of Chicago. Jobs are for youth 23 and under, pay $10 an hour and are funded directly from the State of Illinois.
 
Jobs start July 9, 2008. Resume and related information due July 7, 2008.
 
Interested parties should send thier resume to bracenter@gmail.com by July 7. If you do not have a resume please send an email answering the following questions to youthpridecenter@gmail.com:
 
  1. What is your name, age, address and zip code?
  2. What schools do you or did you attend? List all.
  3. What jobs have you worked/applied for in the past year?
  4. Your current sources of income are?
  5. Your current expenses are?
  6. In 100 words or more, please explain why you would like to participate in this state funded summer job program.
  7. Please describe your relationship/expereince with YPC or YEC

This program is funded by the State of Illinois and is a collaboration between the Coalition for Justice and Respect and BRAC and supported by YPC.

YPC worked hard to reach out to south side schools this past school year. While there are NO GSA's (Gay-Straight Alliances) in 90% of the schools that our youth attend, the list below shows were the majority of our youth go to school (5 or more youth):
